My Little Girl

Some of my apprehensions about Alisa going to USI have been smoothed over. So far, so good. She's loving it there--all but a 3-hour chemistry lab, but when you head into nursing you've got to expect that, and she did.

She's been looking for a part-time job, preferably on campus. Just a few hours a week for gas money. In the meantime, she's captain of an intramural softball team and has signed up for information about several campus groups/events. This weekend is the dance team try-outs and she's all geared up for that. She and Jordan should kick some rear with that. I hope she doesn't let N hold her back--not just from dance, but everything.

I'm still not thrilled with Evansville or the first impression I got from USI, but it's not about me. Alisa is familiar with the city and campus and has many friends there. She's certainly not the introvert that I was when I was in college, thankfully, so since she's now happy where she's at, she's able to let herself shine and grow. I'm very proud of her.

Thank you, God, for my beautiful, smart, strong, independent daughter. I am truly grateful that she is able to get along just fine without me. And that she is not like me in some ways! Please keep her safe and healthy, and guide her to make good decisions for now and for future. Most importantly, lead her to good Christian friends and connections. In Jesus' name, Amen.
